Very tough course. Downhill 1st mile and rolling with several long climbs the reat of the way. I did exactly what I wanted to do in this race.
Splits: 6:02. 6:35, 7:10, 6:36, 6:41, 6:45, 7:24, 6:56, 6:44, 6:40
With the marathon in two weeks, I ran this as a controlled hard workout. I pushed the downhills and relaxed and ran the hills easy until the last mile (uphill) when I ran hard.
I should recover very nicely from this in a few days and be ready for Bay State.
The weather conditions were ideal... mid 50's with light rain. I felt strong and had to rein myself in from running too hard. If I didn't have the marathon in two weeks I feel I could have run two minutes faster.
