Notes
This was a spur of the moment race. My father passed away last night. Even though he was a troubled soul and caused much pain and suffering in our family, I wouldn't be here without him, so Mikie and I dedicated this race to him. George drove and Tony went with us for support.
I was emotionally worked up, perhaps to prove to dad that I was a good runner even though he never supported me. I went out hard as I could, like it was a mile race and after 400m, I was breathing like it was the end of a 5K. Somehow I hung on and finished. I was shocked as I ran 6:01 pace, faster than ever before for about a 10K distance. It was also the hardest race I've ever run.
Mikie didn't fare so well. He had to stop in the woods to take a dump.
