Notes
My goal today was to get my 10 mile gold standard of a sub 1:12, but looking to run under 1:10. When I go to the race, I threw time out the window and would get focus on a sub 1:12 because it was cold, windy and ice on the roads.
The course was tougher than I expected. More hills than it should on the map. First 3 miles were slightly uphill and into the wind. At the halfway point I was 15 seconds over a sub 1:12 pace. This was going to be harder than expected.
When I got to mile 7, I knew I could make up time because these were the same 3 miles as the opening, now slightly downhill and with a tail wind.
The bad news is miles 7-10, my glute/hamstring issue cam back. It was like the half marathon all over again. I really thought with the reduced miles the past month and the noticable improvement in the glute/hamstring, I didn't expect the leg to be like this. I am bummed about this. I need to get this sorted out, or next season is going to be another disappointment.
Even with the slow time, I easily was first in 60-64.
