Notes

Eleni and I had a great day running our first park Run together in Carlisle. The forecast called for overcast skies, however we had the bonus of sunny weather most of the day!

LH was dealing with a migraine and leg/knee problem, but managed to run excellent finishing 3rd in 55-59 division.

I felt great the whole race. It measured way long... 3.3 on my Garmin, so I estimate about .15 longer than a 5K. So my time really was closer to the 5K (19:32) I ran last year later in the season ans today's course was tougher.

5 laps around with the finish on a grass uphill. The laps were gradual downhill/uphill. The sharp turns around the mini round-about and trash bin 5 times slowed me down and at times I had to bob and weave amongst slower runners.

I started my gradual kick a bit later than I planned as I was trapped a bit behind some runners.

12th place overall and 1st in 55-59. I was 16 seconds off the 55-59 course record. I actually thought I would beat it easily. But that was before I knew the course was slow and long. :-)

I didn't have any pain in the knee or hip at all. However at home now the knee is a bit sore.

The usual course is 3 laps and more on grass. However it was changed due to early season wet grounds. It will be interesting to see which course is easier.

After the race we went to Keswick - New Balance Factory Store. Lovely drive and we we picked up 3 pairs of running shoes and a delightful Costa coffee. A beautiful way to celebrate Valentine's Day.
