Notes
My longest race and first half marathon since 2010 at New Bedford. In 2010 I ran 1;24. The Dumfries Half is tougher and being 5.5 years older, I felt a sub 90 minutes was very possible.
Even more important than time was to run a good race and not have any of my old injuries, (hamstring) be a factor. So I ran a cautious conservative first half of the race. In fact the 2nd half which is harder was just about the same split.
Ran 1:31:05, so a minute off my goal, but still happy because hammys and glute were not bad. I didn't have hammy cramp at all until the last 200m when I due to Eleni's cheering and commanding shouts, I kicked it in. :-)
Next year if I do this race, I will run easiest part of the course (miles 1.5 to 4) faster. I can pick up 30 seconds there.
19th place out of 168 runners. 1st in 60-69 division.
