Notes
Conditions were decent, (because it was not too windy), but it was warm, so most runners ran a bit slower than expected.
Simon and Les also ran. They both are coming off injuries and ran 1:34:29 and 1:44:30.
My original goal was to run sub 1:35. was also looking to run 1:35, but after the PHT flair-up and was hoping I could get through the race and finish with a decent time.'
I went out a bit conservative, wary of the hamstring and by halfway, the pain eased off and I picked up the pace and did a negative split 2nd half running 1:36:07. (48:20 & 47:47 splits.) This is a PW, but I am psyched I was able to get in a good race and not cause damage to the leg. If the hammy was 100% and I went out harder, I might have wilted in the 2nd half and run slower. So, I am pleased with the time.
In 2018, I ran 1:31:53, so 4:14 slower this time. I have been training well, but going by my workout paces, no chance I could run that time again. Age decline is gradually speeding up now. 😊
29th place out of 137. 1st v65.
