Notes
Terrible course was full of barriers and mud pits, which ruined my pace. Surely they could find a nice straight, dry road for this.
Ran with DD. Barrels, tires, wall climbs, multiple mud pits, balance beam, mud slide, stream crossings. I went through the first pit on my hands and knees, the traditional way. Then I thought, I paid good money for this race, I don't want to leave any mud behind. So, second pit I scooted through on my back. Third pit I rolled through. The high wall climb was the most challenging, especially with slippery hands. Fun.
The course was shortened due to bad condition of the trail. Although they planned a 10K course, It was reduced to 5.33 miles.
Last run for these Beasts. Donated them and two other pairs (Beasts #2 and Asics Gels) to the shoe drive.
After the race, we stopped at the Orthodox Church's Greek festival for delicious gyros, spanakopita, and pastries.
p.s. I hadn't intended to take a three-day taper for this run; outside factors pretty much precluded all three mornings.
