Notes

Plan was to check out the trails to see how the conditions would be for OSGR tomorrow and also get deer prints for the advent calendar square. I had my spikes in my pack but didn't use them. A truck had driven out the first mile so I ran in that track and then took Harrington to the short cut trail Someone had snowshoed both those trails. Lots of trees bent over with heavy frozen snow. I was very pretty. There was less snow in the woods than I expected and the footing was good. Ran out to the picnic area, the river has some ice in the cove. Ran out the second half of Homestead to the ATV. Needed a view from a summit for today's square so I went up Ridge trail. Pretty good going. I hiked the steep stuff. Finished getting all the deer prints I needed and the grassy first summit. I was getting short on time so I had to turn around and get back. Ran pretty fast going back down Ridge. Ran the ATV back, that had been showshoed too so pretty good footing. Just past the sandpit I met Glen Poulin and a woman on fat bikes. I high fived Glen as they cruised past. Made it back to the parking lot in plenty of time. Good run. Running on the snow is so much easier.
