Notes

Sunny, warm, 69 degrees. Kinda hot in the sun but nice in the woods. Ran by myself. Scottie’s field had been hayed so I decided to do the old XC loop. Right off my left big toe was sore. Felt pretty crappy the first mile. I’ve had a cold the last few days and yesterday it was the worst. Ran the single track and out through the field was good. Went up the big hill and didn’t stop. Decided to go clockwise for a change. Breathing was pretty labored but my legs felt good. Got to the top and crossed the powerlines, then stopped to catch my breath. Since my toe hurt, I didn’t want to go down the steep sections coming up. My watch had just hit 3 miles, so I decided to turn around and go back the way I came. Ran pretty fast down the hill and a little cautious on the powerlines. My right foot slipped down off a rock and I jarred my knee and hip. I ran pretty hard all the way back to the top of the steep hill, then took it easy on the downhill to protect my toe. Ran hard through the field and up the middle of Scottie’s hill. Stopped again to get my heart rate down. Started up the single track and kept picking up the pace all the way. Crossed the little brook and slowed a little out to the grass. Ran hard from here all the way back. Pretty gassed by the time I got to the parking lot and across the bridge. Good run for having a cold. Felt good to get my heart rate up. My core was starting to get tired. Need to get back to doing my sit-ups etc.
