Notes

Sunny, warm, not humid, light wind. 72 degrees. Ran by myself, wanted to do a road run since I haven’t been on the roads in a long time and I’m racing the Myeloma 5K on Saturday. Ran the Black Bridge loop clockwise. Stayed on the road from the mill to Hosmer, ran half the pavement and second half the trail. Went up the road from the tennis courts and out onto Hancock Street. Felt like I was moving ok, but not very fast at all. The pace was way over 8 minutes and it felt like I was running hard. Got to Black Bridge at 3.4 miles. My 5K probably would have been just under 25 minutes. Stopped to rest cool down a bit. The sun felt really hot. Started across the bridge and worked on picking up the pace. Mile 5 was finally under 8 minutes. During mile 6 my left hip started to get pretty sore. Backed off the pace a little, went away, but I felt it a couple more times. Mile 7 I slowed down and took it easy, wanted to save my legs for this weekend. Stayed on the road all the way back to the mill. The last 2 miles I felt like I was really out of gas. I felt pretty hot too. Definitely not in the road shape I was this spring.
