Mexico Ledge

Notes

Mostly cloudy, warm, kinda humid still, 70, dew point 61. Ran by myself, decided to try the Ledge and see how my right leg would be climbing the hills. Last night I did a bunch of stretching and this morning it felt better, but still not 100%.

Started out at a pretty good pace, but not as fast as yesterday. I could feel the hip pain some on the first couple climbs but not as sharp or often as yesterday. Stopped at the last bridge to catch my breath before the long steep section. It was a good thing I slowed down, I stepped on a board that was broken and almost went through. Found a couple old signs on the edge of the trail and marked it so some mountain biker wouldn’t get launched. Climbed all the way up and was pretty gassed. Couldn’t tell if my asthma was restricting my air flow or if I was just maxed out. I didn’t feel asthmatic the rest of the run though. Stopped after the round it stump to catch my breath for a minute. Continued on to the Ledge and run to the top then down to the face before taking a break. Ran down the Swett Ave. trail and a pretty fast pace, but not all out. Felt good. Stopped almost at the end to let 2 ATV’s got by. One was Josh Allen, he stopped to talk for a bit and see how Chris was doing. Kept going and turned on the trail to come back. Felt like I was running out of energy on this trail. After crossing the open area, I took a left and went down to take the lower way back. Felt good going down the steep hill to the pavement. Ran hard all the way down to the Honda trail. Took it a little easier on the way back, but not too slow. Tried to keep a steady pace and not slow down on the way back. Picked it up on the River trail, and ran pretty hard the rest of the way back. Could still feel right leg some, but it is quite a bit better than yesterday. Good training run for the White to Black race.
