Notes

Mostly sunny, kinda warm, but cooled off as the sun went down. Ran the last 10 miles with Sam H. on his "31 miles on the 31st" run. Got to the Park shortly after 2 and messaged Sam who said they were less than a half mile away. Got ready to run and only stood around for a few minutes before he and Peter Troast came running in. Peter had done the first 20 with him and it was his longest run ever. They had run 2 loops starting on the East side then over to the Connector trail. But he said the ice was really bad on the Mountain side so he wanted to stay on the East Side. We started on Knights Woods and took all the outer perimeter trails, then stopped to figure how to finish. We decided to do an inner loop and then finish up on the Mountain side. The trails were mostly covered in ice. I had screw shoes but still had to be careful. We moved right along though. Once we got back across the road to the parking lot we still needed 2.5 miles. I had done a 2.5 mile loop before the OSGR a couple weeks ago that went up to the summit and back on the Tote road. So we decided to do that. It was starting to get dark and the boundary trail heading out was treacherous. We went up the ski trail then the northern loop. Stopped at the summit for a selfie and I got out my headlamp and gloves, since my hands were starting to get cold. Sam had forgot a headlamp so we ran by my light. Ran to the Tote road back to the Ski trail and back the way we came. It worked out to exactly 31 miles for Sam and 10.5 for me. This was a fun run, it was good to get in some miles with Sam. He was glad to have someone for the last leg, which was my plan.

Gear: UA tights, gray W2B shirt, headband, gloves (last 1.5 miles), water pack, headlamp
