Notes

Started out foggy and cool, 56 deg, but ended sunny and hot, 80 deg. Plan was to get a 20 mile run in before LMS next weekend, so the Riverlands 100 course it was. Drove over to Conant Rd and dropped off a 32oz Gatorade bottle of water, a regular bottle of water, and PBJ. Started the run with a full pack of Tailwind. I was planning to carry another bottle of water and leave it at the beaver bridge, but I forgot about it. I felt ok starting out and had .9 miles when I got to the single track section so I continued down the road a little to get to 1 mile. Ran the singletrack and then down to Homestead trail, I was sweating pretty good already at this point. Made it out to the beaver bridge and headed out the ATV trail. When I got to the intersection to the trail down to the river, I looped around by the old foundation and well. There were a lot of muddy wet sections all along the main trail. I stopped at the Bradford intersection to splash my face and soak my headband. I continued on through the hilly section running all but a couple of the steep sections. At the top of one of the hills I noticed some ribbons out in the woods on the left side. I stopped to look and noticed an old trail on the right. I ran down it for a bit to see if it would peter out, but it kept going so I turned around and figured I would check it out another time. I was still feeling good when I made it out to Conant Rd but getting hungry. I stopped and ate the PBJ and drank the bottle of water, then filled my pack with big bottle of water and baggie of ice that wasn't melted all the way. Once I got started climbing again I noticed my left front hip flexor was starting to get sore. Also below my left knee was a little sore on the downhills. I could feel the warmer air and it was kind a humid on the way back. I stopped at the T intersection and sat to cool off and took a GU, since my energy was feeling a little low. Ran back through the hilly section and still ran most of the hills, my legs felt ok. Stopped at the Bradford intersection to splash my face. When I got back the river trail intersection, I stopped again to cool down and eat most of my stinger waffle. I still had a good amount of water in my pack. I was getting tired and my hip flexor was still bothering me but I still had enough energy to run all the hills. I stopped at the beaver bridge to splash and cool down. I finished my stinger waffle. I wish I had the bottle of water I planned on. I felt pretty good going back on the Homestead. I was able to run and hop on the technical sections. Stopped at the picnic area to cool down and also splashed my head and legs in the river for a final cool off.
