Notes

Sunny, hot, not as humid, 80 deg.F, dew point 63.0. I had the bright idea to run up behind Marden’s then past the Jo Pond trail down Swain road and cut over to the new powerlines and back that way. I figured it would be about 9 miles. Had a half a stinger waffle on the road the Hydro road. Hit 1 mile at the admin building and it said I ran 5:34 mile?? Got to the top up high on the power lines and hit 2 miles at a 6:24. Something was really messed up with my watch. Stopped, turn it off and back on and let it re-synch. Seemed ok after that. Felt pretty good running along by the river. They have been doing work, replaced the broken down bridge and filling in the deep holes by Zink’s. Crossed Rte. 2 and started up behind Marden’s. I was starting to get hot so my pace slowed way down. Greg Chiasson was replacing the first bridge after the town garage area. I ran passed the second bridge then started hiking at the 3rd bridge. I was super hot. The Nike sleeveless shirt was holding in the heat I think. Just past the 4th bridge I started to run once it flattened out a little. When I got to the intersection I stopped to cool off and took off my shirt. I decided to cut the loop short. I took a right and headed towards the Fitch Company and had a GU. Where you turn right to go down, I went straight thinking I would end up at the power lines. Nope, I ran on a nice woods trail and then down a long super steep hill. I stopped to look at my phone to see where I was. It looked like I was too far left for the power lines. I kept going and ended up on a hill behind some houses. I skirted around a house in the woods and then dropped down into their driveway and out to the road. I took a left thinking the road must deadend with a trail out to the powerlines. I ran up and over a hill and sure enough there was a short trail out to powerlines trail, right at the top of the first steep hill. Ran down, back across Rte.2 and took the powerlines back the way I came. I felt much better once in the woods and after the GU. Ran up high on the power lines at a pretty hard pace. Put my shirt back on once I got back to the mill. Pretty good run even though I cut it short. It was a lot hotter than I expected.
