Notes

Sunny cool morning. Paula and I are staying in NE Harbor at the Kimball Terrace Inn for a couple of nights. Got up early to run the carriage roads. The Brown mountain gatehouse was about a mile up the road from the hotel. The plan was to do a loop, but I turned left at marker 18 instead of going right so I did an out and back. The trail was a long gradual climb up and up and up. About a mile in there was a stone bridge across a small brook, which was cool. Kept going up at a pretty good pace and after about 2 miles I could look down at Somes sound. At about 3 miles the trail turned away from the sound and went around a ravine. I could feel my right front hip flexor, it was kinda sore but not real bad. At 3.75 miles I turned around. The trail was mostly downhill now and I ran pretty fast trying not to land on my heels but use a quick turn over and land on my fore foot. By the time I got back to the stone bridge I was beat. I felt kinda hot so I went down to the brook and splashed water on my face and neck. I was really out of gas, so I ran an easier pace back to the parking lot. This was a good run. Hip kinda sore, but the trails were really beautiful. Iced my sore spot when I got back to the hotel and it seemed to help, didn't feel as sore the rest of the day.
