First mile was in 11:10 even though the first bit was at warm-up pace, I threw in a few sprints at the end. After a walk to catch my breath, I attempted to do more official fartleks on the way back but my knee said no way, so I settled into a strongish pace. The whole mile was a struggle, I even stopped twice ostensibly for shoe adjustments but really to catch my breath. I thought my pace slowed to a crawl, but apparently not! I really felt like my body was quitting on my though - my legs were heavy from yesterdays longish run, but more than that or the speed I think it was a struggle because of all the crap I ate and drank yesterday and today (bday weekend!). My fitness is coming back, and I'm trying to find a 5K toward the end of October to train for - I'm wondering if I'd be able to go sub 34, rather than 35?
