snow conditions forced major changes in the course. it ended up being 3 laps around the fairgrounds, with areas of single track with then totaled 5.2 miles per race director, not 4. 1st lap was ok but i have to say i was feeling it. just knowing i had 2 more was deflating. 2nd lap came and i was questioning whether i would beat pooh hills time. then the blurs of jim j and all his friends lapped me. as i watched them i could not believe what i was seeing. entering my 3rd lap, there they all were, standing there having water - looking like they never even ran. stupid me yelled out a "what the hell?"as i went by. 3rd lap my calves are gone. no hill around home can prepare me for this type of torcher. i even ended up on my hands on the single track - must have got hung up on a branch under the snow or something. there was some guy right behind me so i felt like an idiot. at the end a girl shows up behind me. i had nothing left so on she went. that bugged me. i remembered that over this hill should be the finish. well here is my chance to do my signiture move - blow by any girl within the last 100 yards. so i did and she gave me no fight. i doubled over past the line, she did not. later i found out she was 14. so good job robin! you sucker passed a 14 year old girl! ooo! under a 10min pace. ear to ear grinning! 9th overall women...haha...given the turn out, that probably don't mean all that much.
