Notes
I did an OK race. While I am personally satisfied I have to admit that it indeed was a bit early to run a marathon. After mile 10 I could feel my legs going heavier and more stiff than usual. Then after mile 14 pains kicked in for the rest of the journey.
By mile 16 I was STARVING. I didn't know that this cheap race doesn’t offer any food at their aid-station. It was my 5th marathon and the others before always had bezels, chocolate, watermelons, bananas and such things.
Luckily by mile 17 we passed by a gas station so I stocked up my food with 2 Snickers and a Starbucks Coffee Frappuccino, which I drank in less than 5 seconds. That felt awesome after sipping on their plain warm water.
I also ate a Snicker but didn't eat the other one because by mile 20 I had some stomach-issues until mile 25. Until mile 23 I was right on a personal record (best time 4:45) but I have pushed my envelope since many miles and just kept thinking when I will faint.
After mile 23 it finally caught up with me and I walked for half a mile drowning my chances of having a personal best out of the window. But I needed that walk and it helped me to keep finishing this race, which I did in 4 hours 58 minutes and 30 seconds (according to my watch).
Again, I'm happy considering that I ran a 100-mile race just 3 weeks back. Without that race I definitely would have finished this marathon in 4:40 or less. All in all I had fun and I really hate the design of the finisher medal :-). No seriously, I think it's really bad made.
The weather was awesome I thought. Bib #: 915
