Notes

Mt Diablo trails were nearly all under water. It was so cold up there, much of the trails had a layer of ice. Under the ice was that wonderfully slipper Mt. Diablo mud! These conditions made for a very challenging run, and a great break-in run for the Bondi Bs.

After 15 miles, the feet are still fresh, so I'm sold on the Bondis for mountain races. The sole is so springy, I do not care for the feeling when running on pavement; I prefer the minimalist feeling of my Kinvaras over all others on pavement. That said, the Bondi Bs performed well in all conditions.

The workout today I focused on keeping within my working HR range (144-163); taking a tip from Dr. Dean's 50/50 book. Was proud I could stick to that game plan, as its quite a bit less than I prefer to push it, until I hit the riverbed then I kept picking up speed on the final couple miles. It made for an easily sustainable pace for long runs, probably what I'll shoot for doing in Ohlone 50k, but too slow for my liking in a shorter race like a 13.1.

Knees slightly tender on the bombing descent from the top of the course.
