2018 Rocktoberfest 1/2 Marathon, Charlotte, Sat@0740, Novant Health Freebee

Temp @ 63 F at 740 am, temp at race end @ 66 F; comfortable. Set alarms for 500 am; was dressed and out the door at 0550am, race start and finish at Memorial Stadium at CPCC (301 s. Kings Drive). Arrived at CPCC parking deck located on Charlottestowne & 4th; walked short distance to Memorial Stadium where Start & Finish line were located. Not to many of parking spaces in this deck, glad I got there early enough to get a space. No corrals. Partly cloudy at start with light rain starting at end of race @1000am. Ran in shorts, short sleeve shirt, compression socks,hat and was very comfortable. Totally soaked at race end. Running Shoes HOKA Biondi 4 (H1);ran with water bottle. No pacers. Very Hilly course; started at mile 1, miles 6-12 very challenging, mile 12- finish flat to slight downhill. Started off slow and steady trying to keep @9:30 min pace. Walked short periods each mile after mile 8. Thighs started cramping at mile 11. Post race ok, bottles water and Gatorade available, bananas.

After home and checking results, I discovered I placed 3rd in my age group.....wow!
