2015 BB&T Corporate Cup Half Marathon, Charlotte, NC
Cold Temp @28degrees F. at start, @ 38 degrees at finish.
Wore Running Pants, double long sleeve running shirts, vest, gloves, cap, & running hat. Running Shoes ASICS GT-2000 (#3).
Very Hilly course; trained 100% treadmill. Ran with running partner first 5 miles, but unable to keep 8:40 pace,
Hills took a toll, not conditioned as well as I thought I was. Needed to walk short distances on hills @ miles 7-12; the difference in not running a 1:50 Half. Should have pushed self more, gave up on hills! When running in city area, turn on GPS on watch prior to entering city as tall building interfere with reception.
Plan: increase speed on hill workouts and # of hill workouts /wk to strengthen legs. May need to include inclines up to 8%, maybe 0.1mi 3-8%-3 at 6.4-6.3mph two or three times with a .4mi 6.7 mph run on 2% to prepare for next hill sequence.
