Notes

Pete and I finished a lap of the Back Cove at tempo pace just in time to jump into the Back Cove 5k. We literally got there about a minute and a half before the start. We had planned on just running at the same pace we'd been going since neither of us needed to go any faster, but Pete noticed that Tom Ryan was going a little quicker and picked it up a little, so of course I picked it up to run with him.

We never got into race pace (despite this being the same time as when I *did* race the first week) since we were chatting pretty much the whole way around, but it was definitely faster than I'd planned on running tonight, especially with the air quality warnings. The main reason I chose to run near the Back Cove was the hope that there'd be a sea breeze keeping the ash out of my lungs. (No such luck.)

The last mile Pete picked it up a little and while I also sped up I mostly just let him go. I didn't want to run too fast since this was my 4th speed workout in 9 days which is more than I need to be doing (tabata intervals last Monday, 2 races this weekend, plus today - I don't count last week's back cove as a speed workout given that I only had a couple little surges.)

It was fun, but I was glad when it was over.
