Princeton Underground Railroad Race

Overall, I really cannot complane about this race, granted I would have loved to have broken 17 but without competition it was pretty hard to keep up the pace. The race started out as planned, I started out fast and used the hill to my advantage to clock a very fast first mile... 5.08 but without anyone around it was hard to convince myself to maintain that pace. I had planned on running a 5.30 for the second mile and just holding on throughout the remainder of the run. Well i hit the turnaround and saw that i had about a 20 second lead on Tom and Clark so I decided to back it down a little... well that little bit cost me... i really never got a solid push back out of myself after that point... i hit the second mile at 5.40 which put me at a 10:48 which was actually close to what i had hoped for but i knew i had a big hill ahead and not a lot of push inside of me to want to hit it hard. i climbed the hill knowing i slowed down going up and started to pick back up the pace after the hill but it was not use... i ran the last mile in 6.04... guhh... and clocked in the last .1 for a total time of 17.30 unchallenged. i felt pretty good about the race considering the lack of anyone around, i would have loved to have some competition around me but i guess i kind of knew there might not be much going into it. Tom and i ran a pretty quick cool down and i got a pretty neat trophy to take home :)... this is my first win since the Fat Ass in 2009
