Notes

Needless to say this was a bigger challenge than I thought it would be. How hard could it be to predict a distance and run it in a certain amount of time? Well, I thought I took in account the wind, ice, snow, darkness, hills… but I couldn’t predict my ambition to run fast when given the chance. I predicted 13 miles in 90 minutes, I had the course set out and I decided to wear my watch and put tape over the top of it so I couldn’t cheat. The course I decided to run was not a well known one so even if I did get the temptation to look at the watch I wouldn’t know my pace. Well, I left from downtown Princeton and felt like I was laboring a little bit but not too bad… I knew I went out too fast but I didn’t care, I figured the ice and hills would eventually slow me down. I left around 3:30 and as I was running I figured the sun would be an ok judge to help keep me on track. The wind was brutal but I was feeling good, I got out of town Princeton and the roads were covered in snow and ice, I tried to avoid the ice and remain on the snow. I eventually made my way back into Princeton and away from the hills and at this point I figured I was way too quick but if I was going to be stupid I might as well make the most of it. I traverse through the remainder of the course and eventually make it back to the car. I stop the watch and in my heart I knew I was below 90 minutes… I roll up my sleeve to see… 1.23.21… ops; I guess I really cannot pace out too well! I knew I wasn’t going to win the challenge but I figured I would be at least in the ball park… my watch apparently keeps me in check! 

Good fun Carol! I look forward to any other challenge you have in mind!
