Forums >General Running>And so! What are you hoping to achieve in 2018?
I have decided if the MPW are an absolute it needs to be >= 40 MPW. I am enjoying a wide variety of activities these days and do not want to be shackled by only running. Some activities are aerobic, some court sports and some strength and plyo.
I no longer have the dedication to sacrifice the other sports I love in search of returns on running.
1) Less fat on average than 2017 2) Boring and consist moderate effort of training of >= 50 MPW

1. The not dying thing is a good start.
2. Being relatively injury free again would be a plus.
3. Continuing to get faster at all distances at age 57.
4. Another 3,000 mile year would probably help accomplish goal #3.
5. Be a better person.
PR's 5k - 20:39 (2014). 10k - 42:04 (2014) 13.1 - 1:30:30 (2014) 26.2 - 3:14:21 2017)
Upcoming Races - Boston Marathon 4/18
not bad for mile 25

I have been trying to get faster at my advanced age, and it's a challenge. Still trying, though.
Funny, I hadn't really thought about setting new PRs on number 5, but that's a worthy goal as well, right?
Staying injury free, the rest will take care of itself..
Oh, and that diet thing
Actually been thinking about this for few days. I wanna run 1000 miles this year, that would YUGE for me. It's gonna be tough too, with hiking and climbing trips planned.
that would be YUGE!
some people are saying.......
I am sure you will have TOP people working on that---the best people on that! Believe me.

As someone who just experienced their first "true" running-related injury this year - that sounds like a great goal!
Aside from getting the necessary mileage in, my goals are as follows:
Started running - 2014
1st marathon - 2017
Still trying to figure out a good training plan that works for me.
Hi Eisen
Your B goals aren't consistent imo. Your FM time of 4h should equate to 2h half at most - I would say you should have your A goal within reach. Unless you plan on running the hm in between your full preparation?
In addition - wouldn't you spell mensch with an sch instead of ch? Not German but just asking.
Cheers
MJ
HM: 1:47 (9/20) I FM: 3:53:11 (9/23)
2024 Goals: run a FM & HM + stay healthy!

My goals aren't consistent because I've only done 2 HMs at my friend's pace (HM in 2:50) and 1 FM at my pace (FM in 4:09).
I guess my more realistic goals would be a 4:00 FM and a 2:00 HM. However, the HM times would be purely theoretical, as I haven't done one yet at "my pace".
My scheduled 2018 HMs are actually a month after my scheduled 2018 FMs. I might do a HM in August to prep for my October FM, but I haven't selected one yet.
One would spell "mensch" with "sch" however, there was a character limit when I started using this username elsewhere. I figured dropping the "s" would get me the least amount of grief (I could have changed the spelling on other platforms, but I've noticed that "eisenmensch" was already taken on several other platforms, so I kept the misspelling to be consistent).

48-hour debut, at least hit 50+ AR (231.44 miles). And people are trying to talk me into Barkley. Hmmmmm.

Snowdrop 55-hour this weekend, focusing on 48-hour split. Wish me luck.
Didn't apply to Barkley. Probably the right decision, but I'm still kind of regretting it.
