Upload issues: "Don't know this device's capabilities" (Read 264 times)

Hello -

I'm having trouble uploading. It has worked for years and now all the sudden when I try to upload data from Garmin 305 the status says "Don't know this device's capabilities"

Any ideas?

That's a new problem. I'm not sure why it happened. Basically, the Garmin Communicator identified the device as a valid Garmin GPS but it reported that your GPS does not support downloading of data. Obvious this is not correct since it's a Forerunner 305.

It could be a problem with either Garmin Communicator or the Forerunner. Here's what I would do. Try each step individually and see if it makes any difference. If not, then move onto the next one.

Turn off (not reboot) your computer and turn it back on
Reseat the Forerunner to make sure it has good contact
If you have Garmin Training Center installed, try downloading your data with it
Do a reset by holding on to Mode and Reset for a few seconds
Uninstall and then reinstall the Garmin Communicator

Let me know if none of these works and we'll brainstorm for more ideas.
