Hello!
I am about to begin using the Dr. Maffetone method and am in search of a good heart rate monitor. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a reasonably-priced one that does not need to be interfaced with a cell phone. I have a Garmin chest strap that needs a BlueTooth connection in order to work, and I am not going to run with my cell phone as it's rather large and cumbersome. Does anyone know of a heart rate monitor that is a stand-alone unit and is around $60 (U.S.) or less?

There's an RA group for Low Heart Rate trainers. It might be helpful to you if you are going to try it. They can likely help you with the monitor questions too.
