Jmac its almost like the vo2max has tricked your body into thinking you are getting a cold. I find vo2max can give me a sore throat but i havent had the chills or fever.

Keen - starting fresh is always nice, make sure you don’t overdo the first week.

Steve - as others said, just listen to your body and don’t try to recover the lost time.

Your objective should be solely arrive healthy at the start line. You still have a chance at a PR depending on how you feel on race day.

Watson - ouch, 25k/h is already annoying and that is the average. That’s the equivalent of training in altitude heh.

Jmac - I”m getting chills just reading about that workout. I can’t comprehend 5x1200.

me - yesterday's session at the functional training kicked my ass completely. The one leg plyo jumps were especially tiring, even though I was jumping maybe an inch off the ground. Early today I even had to use support to sit on the toilet seat haha.

So I didn't even think of running. Maybe tomorrow.

JMac - Those effects are something I've never even heard of before, to be honest.

I'm completely over my bug, but had to take this morning off as I was tasked with dropping off DD1-3 off at my in-laws before work (a good 30+ minute drive each way). Really looking forward to a long run tomorrow. Might even throw in an as-yet-to-be-determined number of M pace miles just for fun. Is it bad for a LR to be more than half of your weekly mileage??

Flavio - Get back on the saddle! Maybe you shouldn't do 5x1200, but Piwi can tell you all about the wonders of 5x1K

Keen - You went from mileage king on this thread to total slacker (i.e. still leader of this thread )

Jmac VO2 is so good and so bad, good it creates stimulus, bad its hard on the body.

Keen- children and sickness is hard times. Weve been through that this winter with one passing it on to another until I finally get it. You are doing well with all the life interruptions.

I completed the double Lady Gaga this morning with a sub 40 10k tempo my first sub 40 as a 50 year old. Went well probably ran it at about 15k race pace, never went into the paincave but was a solid workout. Had a cross/headwind for 6kms too. Get home then the 20 yr old son wants to go for a run with me so back out the door

JMac - sounds brutal! It's not uncommon for me to have an elevated HR for most of the day after a big race (HM/FM) and get the sweats but not after a workout.  HR might stay high for a while but I haven't seen those other symptoms.  Take it easy!

Piwi - nice job, no dress-ups for you I guess haha.  It was quite windy up here too.  One end of the track was misery and the other end I didn't really notice it haha.

Me - early post for the weekly since I'm done already.  Going to the Machine Head gig tonight, so reshuffled my training and Sunday will be a day off.  It was an interesting week, mid-week I was definitely feeling the fatigue from last week's run of workouts, and I expected today's workout (4x6min hard / 2 min jog) to be really tough after 4 days straight running.  Anyway the first two reps were hard and I kinda battled along, but the last two I blasted through at ~3:20/km (I did it on the track so got a bit of a speed boost from that too).  Definitely feeling a few niggles - right quad has a little tight spot in it, and right post-tibial tendon has been niggly too, so for this week I'll see how I feel after taking Sun and probably also Mon off running.  At 75.5km it was another solid week (now 13 straight over 75km).

JMac - I also unintentionally ended up doing 100.7km in 7 days.  Since I shuffled my training this week, last Sunday to this Saturday was actually over 100km (even though both of those weeks, on the usual Monday-Sunday basis were ~75km).  TBH in hindsight the same thing probably happened 3-4 weeks go when I did a similar reshuffle.  Not sure if that counts as a 100km week or not.

I occasionally get hammered by a workout.  Normally a big overheating issue which can impact sleep.  Happened Tuesday night after intervals.  Oddly one of the worst was 4 weeks ago after an easy paced 18km, which was two weeks post a half.

Mark nice week and workout. Take care of those niggles. I feel like a douche cos I dont know that band but my era was the 80s

Watson i sometimes get restless legs after a race or workout where they feel uncomfortable in bed. A good foam roll seems to be the answer.

Question for the group. When i upload my runs from my tomtom watch they go into the tomtom app called Sports. The splits per km are 2 secs faster in there than on Strava. Is Strava short changing me and do any of you notice the same with your Garmin software or other brands ?

Often Strava ends up slightly shorter than Garmin.  E.g. Garmin gives me 12km, Strava gives 11.9km.

Could be wrong - I think Strava always rounds down to 1 decimal place.  E.g. if it is 11.99km, it will make it 11.9km.

Case in point today I ran with a mate who has a new Garmin watch and when he got to 23kms i was at 22.75 ! Its bad enough that I will have to upgrade my watch at some point as it costs me 200m in a half marathon and shows everything as short courses.

Piwi- Nice week.  Strava does seem to round down fractionally sometimes, up to 100m (e.g. 11.99 or 12.00 will sometimes show as 11.9).  I'm not sure if that impacts the pace cal or just the distance that Strava presents.

                                Watson - nice week.

Me - Glad I did my LR on Fri for two reasons.

                                1. It was incredibly wet here this morning and it would have been miserable to run in.

                                2. I had the worst hangover that I've had for probably 2 years - probably due to a combination of not drinking that much these days, and also having lost a bit of weight... I think my capacity is somewhat lower than it used to be!
