GPS tracking for iPhone - or others.. (Read 904 times)

Have been looking for an application that takes  GPS coordinates and sends to website and creates real time tracking. While I have found a couple they are rated pretty poorly. Some that seem close, but not sure about include GPS Chaser and GPS Motion-X . Many send to Twitter but would prefer that it could be set up to post directly to a web page. Automatic submission is a must, since I don't really want to be hitting send button every 1-5 minutes or so.... If anyone has personal experience I would really like to hear what software it is.

Instamapper (http://www.instamapper.com) works well for Android... they have an iPhone version, but of course it can't do tracking while running in the background, which might be a problem for you, or not.

Well it' got to be the Runkeeper App for iPhone. There a free and a pro Version.

I don't think Runkeeper supports real-time tracking of your position by other people, does it? It tracks where you are but that data stays local to your phone until you upload your whole route, right?

I have been using Runmeter and really happy with it.  You can tweek the settings to post automatically to Facebook or twitter at different intervals that you set.  You can also adjust settings to have Runmeter speak to you, giving you your pace, time, calories, etc. It automatically creates a google map of your run.  Many features. Then  you can email a GPX file to upload to this website.  I wish there was a way to automatically send the gpx file, that is the only manual thing

I'm a newbie to running so haven't compared too many apps, but really like this one.  I feel like it keeps me on track.

@ratherberunning. Well if you subscribe to

for $ 20 a year you get Runkeeper Live.

There your tracks can be followed live on the internet.

In the App you can turn on or off that the Phone sends out your data of your Run.

I personaly have turned this setting to off as I sometime run in France or Germany, and sending out the data on a foreign network would cost me a arm and a leg :-)

              Hope I could help you.
