Forums >Racing>Goal of Sub-3 Hour Marathon
I saw this on "Masters Running" user group. Dopple Bock September 396 YTD 3,254 Wow! I'd hate to see what you'd do in year that didn't include a summer of "slacking, drinkinking too much beer..." edit to add: ah...I picked right up on who you are for last 3 handles, but it took Obsessor's comment on other thread for it to sink in this time...so obvious too. Those senior "moments" are starting to last longer and longer. Stick around. I think you'll like it around here. Stay healthy and good luck at Whistle Stop.
Long dead ... But my stench lingers !
Hi, Found this site when I googled "sub 3 hour marathon". Set this as a goal to complete sometime in 2009. Good luck to all those other runners out there working on achieving their own goals!
Hi Jim - good luck tomorrow - you look to be well set to break last year's time. I wish I was running it with you but it looks like surgery is on the cards for me to get this sports hernia sorted out. I am hoping to be back in action for Kaiser in Feb, and then I'll be looking for a good May/June marathon to shoot for that sub 3 that I had hoped to do at CIM. - Alan
Jim-- would you please also add me to the list? I am going to attempt to run sub-3:00 at the GMAA Marathon in VT on the 18th. Thanks!
PS Jim: I am looking at 'The Complete Runner' on my bookshelf right now - NOT Bob Glover. "From the editors of Runner's Wold Magazine". BTW, how many running books are there with the word "Complete" in the title? I have 3 sitting right next to each other on the shelf. The Complete Marathoner (Joe Henderson), The Complete Book of Running (James E. Fixx) and The Complete Runner.
Gotcha covered--some nice times you have. That 10-miler in June says you should get that sub-3 with room to spare. Good luck.
Right on Hereford...
Thank you... I have been tempted to start a thread asking if it's a reliable goal, but found that I did not want the truth if it turned out that I can't. You have lifted a giant burden
I'm changin'mine to 1:24:58
Not that I have ever run a sub-3 marathon, but dude! A 1:01:42 10-miler is money. You are wicked fast.
