Flavio - yikes you get ripped off on pricing even worse than in NZ! It's NZ$899 in most stores here, which is US$650, and that's full retail price (i.e. not on sale).

JMac - yeah I've been admiring your Central Park routes as well! Would love to have a spot like that in Auckland.

    "CONSISTENCY IS KING"

Thanks for the feedback on the mileage.  I did my recovery run today.  I went for a jog with my girlfriend and it's great to go with someone but her pace is slow.  Very slow.  We jogged 11km but it was at about 8:00/km.  Usually I'd aim for 8-9km around 5:30/km.  Would you guys count that towards mileage even?  I might count this as my rest day.  It was terrific getting out with her.  Hit the trails on a beautiful day; just wondering if there is any effect towards training.

To those who mentioned Garmin, I mentioned a few posts back that they are great at sending thing out no questions asked.  I had no reason to be deceptive as my watch was within it's one year warranty but the buckle broke.  I used another buckle but then the loop kept falling off.  They sent a replacement loop but it kept happening.  Today I got this in the mail (at no charge, no questions asked, mind you): [Garmin customer support is great]

      Personal Bests: 5k 19:43 (04/2017), 10k 43.24 (10/2016), Half 1:33:18 (10/2017), Full 3:32:47 (05/2017)
      2018 Targets: 5k: sub19, 10k: sub41, Half: sub90

Blair 11kms is good but 8 min/km is like walking pace I would think so hard to say whether its worth logging that. Nice on the garmin service.

Jmac hows life in Sydney  the thing with high mileage is that it is a part of required talent to run to ones potential so kinda part of the top runners package So even though we all could likely run faster on more miles we dont all possess the ability to run that mileage without breaking down physically or mentally.

Piwi - Oh I know it's not fast.  We varied from 7-8:30 depending on fast she could go.  9/km is a very fast walk so it was quite a slow jog. I probably won't log it.  Might put in an easy 8 at lunch tomorrow and skip strength training for the week.

Arvind - nice week.  Those 20 milers will do wonders for your endurance.

Close encounters of the forum kind - I was in Wellington for work yesterday/this morning.  Watson and I actually ran past each other this morning and didn't entirely realise it.  We both realised later once we logged our runs on Strava.  At one point I remember seeing a reasonably serious-looking runner (nice job Watson) and wondered if it was him, but mostly I was just relieved that the wind was behind me (it was pretty windy out this morning and the northerly was brutal in spots).  Watson said he thought it might be me too but didn't want to call out in case it wasn't.  Oh well maybe next time!!

Mark/Watson - I'm champion of the world in not seeing somebody if they're not "supposed" to be there. You could say however that you were going so fast that it was not possible to see each other

jmac - thanks mate. I'm hoping to slowly increase mileage and finally hit 60 miles a week again.

Not sure you noticed, today I unintentionally ran a V for Victory during my run. I sometimes run like that so I'm closer to home should something happen and also because it takes streets with less/no traffic.

Well, I migrated over as well. I've had 3 weeks in a row with trips to the East Coast (from the Bay Area) so it's been difficult to stay on my schedule, but at least I've gotten to know both Pittsburgh and Boston a lot better after spending some time running around their paths.

My mileage has been varying but has mostly been in the mid to high 20s. Also did a super sprint tri this weekend, after 2 days of relatively heavy drinking and little sleep at a company retreat, and a 6+ hour flight back home the evening before the race. My body did not feel ready for the race Sunday morning but I somehow made it through.

I've just connected my GarminConnect to this site. I'm curious whether it will show the training log over the next few weeks so we don't have to post weeklies?

Flavio I used to have my runs upload to here pre Strava days. Looks like some of the locals dont like these daily threads in here as it shows on most recent posts bumping out other posts but Im sure it gets much more viewing here and likely attract more members.

Rune good to see you here.

Watson how is the forecast looking ? One of the local guys here was going to do that Wairarapa marathon and he was in great shape 35 min 10ks in training etc, then got hit off his bike a few weeks ago and got badly injured.

Heading to Napier for 3 days tomorrow so should get in some good runs in a new spot.
