Problem Child
Keen: first flight delayed from 7am to 3pm. Thankfully I called at the first delay (hydraulic leak) and “waited in line” over the phone so when the SECOND delay came through they called a second later. If this plane takes off on time I’ll land in Charlotte around 6am. TSA this morning was crazy busy, but 3:30 was practically a normal Thursday. I guess people are actually working.
tsa was interesting though...
5:30am. Busy as fuck.
Scanned my boarding pass and had to pull my mask down. Left my wallet in my pocket and the guy asked if something was on my right…no no left (as I reach for my wallet) side. This triggered a pat down and explosives swab.
This afternoon with damn near no one at security compared to the morning, and the boarding pass scanner doesn’t work so they don’t need to see my boarding pass. I put my wallet in the bucket and before the ‘arms over head’ body scan I had to double up my mask (balaclava) then they had to pat down my LEFT AB/stomach area.
This is at the same airport. I’m sitting at my gate with my balaclava pulled down because they have every other seat blocked off and no one has said anything to me. It would have been nice to be on this flight yesterday, but I got a lot of extra stuff done so my wife can focus on not killing a 3.5 year old while keeping a 3.5 MONTH old alive. Oh and the 3.5 year old has self decided bedtime at 8pm is inadequate so he protests until approximately 9:30 at which point he is an angel.
edit: oh yeah I had to pull my shorts up much higher in the afternoon. I am a size 32 and they are when I was fat (34) and I had no belt on.
Many of us aren't sure what the hell point you are trying to make and no matter how we guess, it always seems to be something else. Which usually means a person is doing it on purpose.

Re strength training for runners, I think it's something to do a little of, not go too hard (injury risk and general fatigue) and fit in where you can. Bilateral leg work can be quite beneficial.
RP and Darkwave - good luck for your races.
Steve - best wishes on your mum.
It was slightly amusing that JMac talked about genetics being a big factor. And then we had Steve complaining that his mum was stubborn!

cfarr It’s ALMOST enough to make the desire to run an East Coast marathon minimal. Almost. I thought an overnight flight would be better than an afternoon flight. I think I’d rather fly halfway and re-board than PHX to CLT.
edit:while wearing a mask the entire time.

So your trip is RNO -> PHX -> CLT - > ROA? UGH. That sounds awful even without delays.
Good luck Darkwave in the 10 miler. Will be a good fitness benchmark.
RP hope the 5k goes well. Thats some serious travel for a 5k ?

RP - That's a lot of plane hopping. And an 8 hour delay? Bleh. Nice airport 5k, too! Good luck in the "real" one tomorrow.
DWave - Good luck at the Mohawk this weekend, too.

Upcoming Races:
OKC Memorial 5k - April 27
Bun Run 5k - May 4
Good luck to RP and DWave in their races tomorrow. My sprint tri will be interesting because it looks like it will be 37F at race time which is ideal for running but terrible for swimming and cycling. Oh well, I've packed a huge wardrobe so I should be ok.

Awesome more racers this weekend good luck Zeb and Watson.
I was supposed to do 4x200 and 8x400 today but started getting messed up after missing the end beeps of one of my 200s ( it was dark and I'm blind and deaf 😭 )
Ended up doing something at least
Good luck Darkwave, RP and Watson this weekend.

Piwi I was thing the same thing.
Zebano & Watson good luck as well!
I used the ticket I bought for Boston and actually came for a high school graduation. I happened to find the 5k and the weather tomorrow should make it interesting.
even my off roading buddies think I’m stupid for crossing the country for a 5k.
forecast is about 68F with 87% humidity and a dew point around 64. I don’t know what all that means other than 5ks suck and aren’t fun.
Race went fairly well. Did 27:27 slightly shorter course (maybe 50-100 metres) than last year. The race is half through bush, so GPS is not that accurate, course is somewhere between 5.75 km and 6.24 km depending on which watch you believe..
