Mark, James, Watson, Mick, Steve, DW, mmerkle, HCK - Thank you all for the kind words and support.

HCK - The deer are bold here too.  I once had one stand in the middle of the road and look at me as I ran towards it, and stand there as I ran around it (keeping my distance).  It wasn't even a buck in rutting season standing his ground, but a doe during summer.  Yeah, I'll be running Asbury Park too, but my RP can't make it and meanwhile three other people I know are running Lincroft, so I might as well make that my target.  Nice work last week.

darkwave - "I'm finally starting to feel like myself," are great words to read.  Good news, indeed.

Steve - Congrats on the new annual mileage record and the PR sweep.  Good idea to enjoy the results, even if you still want to chase the marathon time.

Mick - Sorry if I've missed it - what's the target of your 18 week plan?  (Even with a smaller population, I can't keep track of everyone's goals.)

Watson - Nice job getting back to the long run.

James - No pain in the knee is good, even if it's a bit stiff.

Mark - Congratulations on getting the ParkRun record.  I'm told that the record holder for my local ParkRun only shows up when he has to reclaim his record because someone else has broken it.  I'm not sure how much of that is true and how much is local legend.

Hasiritai - So...you're also Wullie?  I get confused.  If so, congrats on the race.

After the trail run Saturday I felt quite sore and banged up Sunday morning so I delayed my long run.  I delayed it so long that by the time I was ready to go it was pouring rain, so Sunday became a rest day.  31 miles / 49.9 km / 5:12:41 for the week.

I hit another milestone this week, topping 350 hours of running for the year, thanks in no small part to the marathon training.  That's 9 hours more than my previous annual mark and I still have two weeks to go.  I don't anticipate hitting that figure next year or any time soon.

Fred - Not surprised you were a bit banged up, sounded like a pretty tough course.  Good discipline getting it done.

Mick - Blame piwi for those - I never even recorded them before until he requested them.  Now it's just habit...

I'm currently on 4112km for the year with my record being 4128km last year.

Hasiritai - So...you're also Wullie?  I get confused.  If so, congrats on the race.

Fred: Haha - yeah, I think someone here has crossed the streams, leading to confusion! (Wullie is my Strava name).

Also, nice work on your recent win and RR. Great job on the encouragement you were giving pink shirt as well! I enjoy reading RRs, especially when they talk a little about the different areas that people run in. We're a long way from anywhere down here in NZ Smile

Steve: Cheers. Will definitely try and post more of my training once the Xmas break is over. I still can't quite believe that my Perish Run progression will be Christchurch, Whanganui, Boston!

Watson: You got any big ones lined up next year?

Thread Underlord: Speaking of next year, will there be a Thread Underlord? Was quite a shame to lose Zeb this year.

          50+ age-group PBs:  Half Perish 1:24:24 (June '23 Road Race) - 10km 37:52 (2022 Local Road Champs) - Track 5km 18:49 (Aug '22) - Perish Run 3:17:42

The Underlord/lady's primary role is to maintain the race list, right?  Does that mean he/she gets to decide whether it's in MM/DD or DD/MM format?

If the thread leader wants to list dates using Roman numerals, that's fine by me.  Actually, (s)he could list times that way too, though the lack of a zero might be an issue.  My last race time would be IBlushII III, which looks kind of boring.

When I ran the thread, I asked for months to be in 3 letter format, e.g. Jan, Feb etc., or in full, e.g. January, February etc.

It gets too confusing with 6/1 and 1/6 - which is 6 Jan and which is 1 Jun?

Yes, the High Overseer determines date format for races, since the All Powerful One controls the table on the first page.

                    3,000m: 9:07.7 (Nov-21) | 5,000m: 15:39 (Dec-19) | 10,000m: 32:34 (Mar-20)

Last race: Runway5 / National 5k Champs, 16:22, National Masters AG Champ!

Steve - I thought you were looking at a progression.  So if it goes well for you, you start slower than me, and then overtake me ~30km in.  And if it goes poorly, I then overtake you at 35km!

It's too far out for me to have a pace aim.  So I don't know what time I'm aiming for.

Yeah I'm too far out to know what the plan is too so seems like a longshot we can run together for long periods.  If it's a progression I may see you in the latter part of the race or maybe not...not running solo for a lot of the race would be great though.

Darkwave: Good news about your medicine. Excited to see how things will be in Houston. And I'm hoping my overall fitness will keep improving.

Crazy: We've had asshole deer around for sure, in our relatively urban area. Had the dog out once (and she's 95 lbs) and the deer didn't care. I was afraid it was going to charge us so we went inside again.

I had a good training week, but wish I got one more swim in. Probably need more than 16 miles of running a week to get real progression on pace there, but I just need to work my way into that. I've had a bad history of literally running myself into injuries when I have increased volume and/or pace.

If you'll have me, I'll be All Exalted Thread Lord next year.  I can't commit to maintaining the race thread to quite the level of detail as previous years, but I'll get the basics.

I'll ask people start their race entries as MM/DD because that makes it easy for me to list the races in chronological order (just by going numerically).  After that, anything you want, but a helpful convention would be screen name then race name, so MM/DD - Name - Race.  Anything you want to add after that, such as goal or target is fine.  I can't commit to adding final results, but will at least try to keep the list up to date.

So - there's my candidacy.  If anyone else wants to do it, just speak up.
