I've always accepted the limit of 3 as being reasonable for everything but the long distance events. The 200 meter final only has 8 runners. If 2 or 3 from Jamaica and 2 or 3 from USA are in there it seems ok.
But for some reason it feels wrong to me to know they will be running for over 2 hours with dozens of runners in the same race, but with half of the top-15 talent in the world at home.
Cant say I feel that bad for Kenya "only" sending 3 guys. The London marathon this past weekend might have been more competitive than the Olympic marathon coming up. But, such is life. The Olympics seem to be less about great / deep fields and more about nationalism and incredible stories.
Btw, somebody like Koen Raymaekers deserves to be there.
