Steve - I’m not sure I’ve asked you before, but you run by time sometimes, don’t you? Running by time is an excellent way to avoid running too fast.

Essentially if you run too fast you punish yourself with MORE running, and if you want to run less you just slow down.

Zeb - anecdotal as well, but Jmac also always gets injured while trying to follow that plan

Piwi - I agree with Zebano, you’ve probably just turned into a vampire!

Now re: the rivalry we can’t even start cause I’d need a 16:51 to match your 81.36% age graded time.

Maybe in a few years when you’re 90 years old and I’m 80

Here's us fighting out our rivalry captured in video:

Those guys are amazing Flavio. When I'm 99 you will only be about 87 though so different age group

I saw my Dad on Sunday. He's 89 and his knees were all swollen up due to been forced to dance with a lady at one of his Santa gigs

Good work this year Piwi. Strava has been trying to show me my year in review for what feels like forever and it's annoying me because I'm not yet done! I'm also annoyed because strava has credited me with 2 more miles than RunningAhead has and the discrepancy is driving me crazy..

            Merry Christmas everyone!

Me too - there's still a week to go.  It ain't over until it's over!  Also my RA is about 5km behind Strava.

Anyways have a great Xmas everyone.

                  Merry Christmas all.

piwi - way too early for the yearly!

My knee got sore on Monday while at work - randomly when I stood up from my desk I could hardly walk.  This has happened sometimes before when I don't concentrate on good posture and have my leg at a funny angle but I usually walk it off quickly.  Not this time - I ran on Monday night and it felt better as I ran, nothing more than a dull ache.  Unfortunately it was sharp again when walking on Tuesday and Wednesday but slightly better when running but not good enough so I stopped at 10km.  Still quite sore today - walking actually sucks.  So no recovery run today and I'll miss my short xmas day run tomorrow and hope it improves quickly.  The reason I'm optimistic is because it came on fast rather than a gradual build up and didn't stem from an incident.

                  Fingers crossed!

Josh - Earlier this year I had to stop running for 50 days due to government mandated stay the FUCK home, where I was yelled at if I was running outside.

I got insane. Tried to walk up and down stairs and got injured. Then I did laps in the 30m parking lot behind the building

Some of the days when I was just exploding in anxiety and needed to get out just a bit.

I was salivating to get back running, then finally, May 4th would be the great day.

Would you believe it, 2 days before I injured my back doing strength training, spent 2 days literally laying in bed because moving was too painful.

Thankfully some stretches (one recommended by Piwi the saviour) and a visit to a PT solved the issue enough that I could finally run on May the 5th.

                      Hang in there!

Flavio - Thanks. I'll take a closer look at the early May days of this thread later then. Bought a xmas-tree the day before yesterday, carried it around the house, and you'll never guess what happened ... I'll try another jog later today.

                      Merry xmas everybody!

Don't hurry - next AG will start 2026

Steve sounds like old age suck it up . Kidding bro all the best on kicking that one.

Josh/Mick merry Xmas to you too. Xmas day here as we are in the future.

Mick I haven't really analyzed those stats but probably a reasonable year. I'm sure I ran alot more in 2013 and 2014

. Those stats include some cycling when I was injured. I think I averaged about 50kms week running.

Right time for a Xmas run 🏃‍♂️

No Xmas run for me today unless I get some time in the middle of the day.  Didn't want to risk not being around when Miss 3 woke up!

Dork of the year goes to me.

Was going to try 2km warmup then 10kms at 4.10/km today.

1st fast km I was sitting at 4.30/km and thinking maybe I wasn't feeling it as was quite hard but watch beeped at 3.52.

I had it on average pace instead of lap pace

Piwi - that is a really good year.

That is way better than my year.  I will end up at about 1560km for the year.  I am probably two months away from decent milaege.  Elbow is fairly good.  Shoulder is slower.  I could run more right now but I don't want to put too much systemic stress which will slow recovery.
