Mark - that video is awesome!

It's nice to put an accent to your face so to speak.

And we know your game at this point. You'll say 2h40 the run 2h30, just like that half that was a 1h15 and that 10k that was 34 minutes Big grin

Jmac - it sounds like you're taking running too seriously. I'm guilty of that too so I can relate. Maybe pace someone in a race while in a Gaga costume?

Keen/dps - big weeks guys, I'm looking forward to massive progress from you guys.

Piwi - it's fine, so long as you drop some bad jokes every once in a while.

MickJogger - where u at? Stop eating all that fondue

Mark - cool video. As Flavio said, good to put an accent to a face. We should just have a video of all of us speaking. We would have an interesting mix here. Flavio I have absolutely no idea what your accent even remotely sounds like, and Mikkey is a weird mix of Irish/English I think? Then I have a boring American accent, not too much of the new yoooooork accent. I have no idea of DPS and Keen, not sure if they properly represent their areas of the country. Then there's MJMarco. It's quite a zoo in here.

Flavio - I'm too competitive with myself. I think half of this board is in the same boat. You're right about Mark, we all know his game of sandbagging. The biggest thing for him will be mileage. If he can get his mileage into the 70+ range, he's looking at shooting for a 2:35. If he can go 80+, he can go for sub 2:30.

Well, this morning my legs are continuing to protest the return to 55+mpw so the idea of 80+ or even 70+ seems a little way off haha.

Mark, that is such a cool video Smile Do they let you practice there for free? Plus: you look pretty nerdy with those glasses!!!

Now I am too old to know this. But is this called advertisement or influencing?

Jmac: I think I saw a video of Flavio once, it wqs on his youtube page where he spoke about his coding skills in java etc. Its really just an average foreigner english accent Smile

Flavio: I forgot to mention this last week but you did look like you lost a ton of weight! Where are you at in terms of kg and % of goal weight?

                  Best,

                        Making a comeback

This is the quote I was thinking of... "“People conceptualize conditioning in different ways,” he said. “Some think it’s a ladder straight up. Others see plateaus, blockages, ceilings. I see it as a geometric spiraling upward, with each spin of the circle taking you a different distance upward. Some spins may even take you downward, just gathering momentum for the next upswing. Sometimes you will work your fanny off and see very little gain; other times you will amaze yourself and not really know why. Training is training, it all seems to blend together after a while. What is going on inside is just a big puzzle. But my little spiral theory kind of gives it a perspective, don’t you think?”"

DPS - Nice quote, who was it from?

I always think you have to look at training as a bigger picture because everyone has days where they feel crap or a workout sucked.  You can't beat yourself up from one bad day or one failed workout.  I mean, if you feel like trash for a week or more something probably needs to change, but not every day is going to go perfectly and as long as you're putting in the work and doing it in a sustainable way, then the spiral will go up overall.

Anyway I had a pretty solid workout today despite extremely strong winds.  Fingers crossed my legs are over their initial protestations at getting back to higher volume training!  My 365-day rolling mileage just hit 4,000km for the first time ever which was kind of cool too.

MJ - I meant to say, I actually won some prize money at the Dunedin Half Marathon!  When I got the envelope, the first thing I thought was 'hey I gotta tell MJ about this'.  It was like NZ$150, not a whole lot, but definitely helped with the costs of the trip.

(PS I wear glasses most of the time at work, I prefer 'geek' to 'nerd' though.  I wear contacts for running or during summer.)

Haha, I certainly wasn't a runner in high school, if I had been I think the New Zealand way of doing things would've been just to bus everyone up to the Waitakere Ranges and let them loose, Lydiard style.
