Notes

I put a lot of effort in this run. It was not easy. Long runs do not come easy. I worked hard for it. This is not to say I did not enjoy it but it was harder than other times. I guess one gets days like this. Shin bone muscles on both legs were tight at times. Maybe CS it now manifests in different ways or maybe is the running up the hills a lot. I also experienced some tightness on the outer side of the right leg at knee area / ligament. Nothing of concern but I keep listening to the body. Maybe I need to go easy with Hills! As much as I Love Hills I need to alter the courses to fit the purpose. The reality is that it is very hard to find relatively flat routes here. And I do not really like doing long distance on the track. It does not somehow come natural.

Today's run was varied. At times I felt strong and at times it felt hard going. However, my last mile was a lot faster than my first mile which is a good sign. I also put an easy pace Tempo at 13/14 and 15th mile point. It was good / tough and rewarding on a hilly course.

The more and more I become accustomed to long distance running the more I realise that up to a certain point I have to think and plan how I want to run. From a point and beyond the body seems to take over when I do not need to think but just allow permission to the body to take over. It is a beautiful feeling. It is almost as if suddenly I struggle at about 14th to 15th mile and then I get a 2nd breath and I can go on forever. Today I did not even need to use a drink of any sort. Weather was very cold.

I am delighted with my run and my head also feels 100 times better today.
