Notes

This was an interesting 8 miler. I run with Frankie up on the hills. My head was problematic since morning. I was apprehensive and I only wanted to jog the distance whatever that was going to be. It was so sunny today, much cooler but so beautiful up on the hills. My paradise! I have left part of my heart, body and soul on those hills when 6 yrs ago I got almost frozen in icy rain doing an 18 miler. Every time Franc and I do the Shawhead Hills it is something special for us both. Franc was aware of my apprehension and head issues so he was running in close proximity keeping an eye in the distance. This made me feel safe and I managed to relax and jog hoping for my head to ease on the way. It did not happen but got slightly better at about 5th to 7th mile. Then the cold rain along with wind came on and as I was on my own at that point I felt threatened. I felt the cold in my head and every step I was taking along with the pounding was manifesting in my head like a hammer. It went on for 10 min and then eased down a bit. I had to run and keep warm till Franc came with the car to pick me up. Runs lime this one although great can be unpredictable and this is why I will not be able to run by myself like the old good times. Also from now on I feel I need to wear my wooly hat. I felt so cold today on the head as I never did before. I enjoyed a nice warm shower at home and counted my blessings. Franc put a good 9 mile run and we are both happy and contended.

This was a tough hilly course too! As much as I love hills today I decided not to go on the steep hill to minimise pressure to my head. Otherwise I felt very strong and increased naturally speed for last miles. Thus, in terms of effort this was a Medium Pace Run.
