What a difference between the Saucony Triumph 10 (wide) and Saucony Cohesion. It made the world of difference in this run. I could never believe the difference a shoe can make in running and how damaging can be wearing the wrong shoes too.

I run the first half in the Saucony Triumph 10 and felt my feet aching and out of balance almost as if my feet were cemented and rigid in the shoe. No flexibility and the feet not appropriately supported. I had no control whatsoever and every step I took I felt it to be a struggle so much so that I had to think how to run and how to place feet on the ground. At around 2.5 mile point I called it a date and stopped my run at home and changed shoes. Feet felt fatigued and I did not know whether it was my feet feeling tired or the shoes.

So, I decided to continue my run straight away by wearing the Saucony Cohesion. From the moment I put my feet in the shoes I knew right away the difference and felt almost as sliding in with no effort. From the first steps I felt my feet were well supported and light. Almost like hands and glove they supported the foot beautifully. After the first 200 yards I wanted to fly and felt so secure and not having to think how I move or how I run.

Today I realised how much damage can be done by wearing the wrong shoes.

So, although the Saucony Triumph 10 (wide) is a good shoe and allowed enough room to accommodate bunion and Hallux it is not for me and they have to retire right away. They are extremely rigid and impossible to bend them and this is the worse scenario for my forefoot that needs flexibility so much.

I am glad I did the experiment on the spot otherwise I would have blamed my feet and body. The second part of my run is visibly so much better and felt effortless because of the shoes.

So, runners watch out what shoes you are using for your running and be very sceptical about it. I would rather go bear footing than using the wrong shoes.

My advice to runners would be 'never to buy shoes by the look or make but having tried them before making a decision to buy them. A runner cannot afford taking short cuts when it comes to shoes. It is A to Z matter in running. It has taken years for me to master that but I have become wiser with the miles and listening to the body.
