Notes

I feel as I have not passed the pre-Marathon test today.

In fairness to myself I must say that it was more hot than anticipated, the course I chose to not one of the easiest to run, My stomach struggles badly with Gu and I also became dehydrated slightly after 15th mile point, I had a stitch between 12th and 14th mile at all times and my legs let me down badly by feeling extremely tired. They did not have it as Frankie would say.

What else is there from a positive point of view? No CS and no back problems or numbness on the right leg.. But both legs felt really needy.

I had to think of SK running 10 whole miles with bleeding feet in 1938 Boston to keep myself going from 11th mile onwards.

From the very beginning I did feel that it was too good to be true. There was no power in the legs. One of the reasons, I clearly know, was lack of sleep over the last 4 to 5 days + age body works. My body feels so rigid the last 3 weeks. But I have to deal with it. And I did it. I did not give up but I was relieved to touch base. There was now way that I could go an extra yard or meter.

Sorry Franc …. I know you said that one must feel strong in the end but did not have it. I did not enjoy this run. It was tough going. I forced the Gu down and I really felt sick to my stomach. I needed it but hated having it. Burning sensations went on and on and it is the most unpleasant feeling when running long distance and one that one cannot ignore. I had to keep going.

At least I do know that I was able to put the 20 miles and now I hope that I will get a good day on the day.

The course was very demanding too. So, food for thought. I will do the work and that is it. I did push hard today. While Running the last ¼ mile Evgenia spotted me and run the last bit which was a bonus as took my mind away. I finished with a lovely cool ice-cream and a bottle of chilled water.

At least last year I became depleted at 17th mile point and had to get a lift home. In a way legs did not have it but I did the work which is very important.

So it is not maybe right saying that I have failed the Pre-Test (as Frankie woudl advocate).
