Notes

It was hard to start with tonight's run on the track. I was listening to the mixed sounds of music on my Ipad and this took my mind off things. Then it was the rain along with strong winds but it was pretty mild in terms of temperature. I was almost on my own for most of the time. I felt I owned the track and my mind wondered in what I was discussing with Yiannis Kouros about the way we both tend to run on the track (sometimes clockwise and sometimes not). This will stay with me as no other person has done this or shared it with me. I focused on so many things to make the mind positively occupied. Eventually I managed to go into a zone ..........a 'non thinking zone'. When this happens it is almost been in a sort of floating state of mind, body and soul. I could feel the CS bothering me but no numbness. Gradually it faded away. I was very tired but at least I had no anxiety and I was not in a hurry as usual to go home early as I had to 'kill time' till I would pick up Evgenia from the Ice Rink. So, I had plenty of time to experiment and bare what was to be tolerated.

Almost like a miracle while the weather became intensely worse I seemed to drift into a zone of 'Nothingness' looping and lapping. I lost account and I never checked my Garmin either. I refused to be guided by the clock.

So, I needed to play then. So, I started doing X 400 speed but sensibly. I would say it was pretty fast for my current standards and my first ever speedy workout on the track.

I did:- 4 X 400 between 3rd and 5th mile and then carried on with 6 X 100. Tonight I realised that my problem is that I run too slow a pace to accommodate my legs etc over the last months. Actually I was so good tonight and I was running so freely in a faster pace and it felt easier. Of course I was well warmed up for the first two miles. I may pay the price tomorrow in terms of CS? But I can tell to myself that tonight was my first ever workout since the fracture and dealt with it honorably and proudly. Whatever tomorrow brings I shall have to deal with it. No one rejects a run when the body takes him there. And tonight this is what exactly happened. When one has a good quality run it does not matter the distance or the speed but that the body enjoyed moving from the inside. And I did feel this tonight. I run from the inside while the physical body went along with it.

I LOVED TONIGHTS RUN. It is something about the track that I love deep down. I can also do backwards running which helps my hamstrings. I did 4 X 100 backwards tonight too. So, All in All as they say I struck it lucky tonight!
