6 miles in total with a 5k race.
My garmin recorded 26:45 but it is approximate in terms of distance as I think I started at the very back? I did take part in the race but not officially as I had to register the night before online. They allowed me to take part but I had to divert of the course for last 30 yards.
I ran conservatively as I was placed at the very back of the pack and so could not progress with so many runners in front of me. For 1/2 mile I had to run at a slower pace and be very creative on how to overtake the slower runners ahead of me, at times running on the grass verge.
I ran next to a young Indian / Ajay (30 yrs). He, in a way, became my pace maker opening the way for me while running strong up-hill. We ran next to each other for most of the way and prompted him at times to maintain his pace. For last half mile I broke away and finished with a sprint. He finished sec behind me, he gave it all.
Overall I ran this race with 90% effort for most of the way. I was not able to race throughput it.
I loved having the taste of racing again even at a low level. As I am typing this I have no exact record of my time as I am not able to access my garmin as yet. Have to wait till return to Scotland!
However I am now determined, all going well, to enter online next week and RACE the 5k in style and by positioning in the field suitably on the start line. Next Saturday will be my time -:).
There were about 400 runners on this run, of all ages, abilities & stages.
