Fifth Run in Stoupa on Wed 16th May 2012-05-11

I forgot to start my Garmin at some point so I missed 1 mile. Garmin recorded 4 miles. This was a late afternoon run up on the steep hills of Neochori Village. The hills become ruthless in the rising heat. I lost so much body fluids just in two miles. Unbelievable! When I arrived at the very top and in the actual village I met a familiar face of a young man I knew of 7 /8 yrs ago. He used to play with Evgenia on the beach. Now he is 22 yrs and very fit. He owned the little Cafe and offered a glass of cold precious water. I then took the way back to Stoupa with breath taking views ahead of me. I took my time on the way down so to enjoy the beauty of the land. It was really high up there.

I had not worked so hard in a while and although tired I felt satisfied with a sense of great achievement that I did not stop to walk. This was tough for me today. Body responds in funny ways in the heat of Greece. It feels good and I feel healthier than ever. Almost every little complaint has healed inside. I have worked physically so hard every day here (in the field and everywhere no stop) but I feel so strong and healthy. I feel like a bionic woman. It was only 10 days ago that I could not physically turn my neck to reverse or look left and right towards my Colleagues. No-one would believe this apart from me that I experience it day in day out.

However, back to running all has been good so far.

A few more days now left before going back to Scotland. It will feel so strange again leaning this place. I am so well connected with the land here as when I was a child. Touching the sand and walking on the sand has so much meaning for me. The smells, the people the scenery are all so familiar no matter how many years have by and gone. It is All the same to me.

The weather has been wild this week. Lots of wind and scattered showers but heavy too. It is always warm but one can feel the morning crispy cold. The sun, however, always comes out and stays not like in Scotland.

Stoupa is quiet and beautiful this time of the year without many tourists and noise. It is just great for the mind and soul.

A few more days with hopefully a couple of runs still to come.
