My comments

This was a race but I did not race it! I had planned this in advance and promised to myself that running means more to me than racing. Today I either had to commit to this way of thinking and run a fast pace but not race it. It was tough. I have been really tired and sleepless for most of the week. A very beautiful week down to Coventry with Evgenia but very tiring for me as I have been on the go no stop around the clock. I am lacking sleep and this has taken its toll. My head is also worrying me as any effort I put into my runs nowadays I start experiencing kind of inflammation on the muscles of the neck and head. It is a worrying thing that I never experienced before. Soon I will know with the MRI what is going on in my head. All I know is that I get very tired but I am equally strong at times which is a good thing and very re-assuring.

Stress is the worse poison for the body. This is all I can tell and I had much of that over the last year. Enough is enough and thank God I am still able to run. At times I wonder what I would have done without my running.

So, as for today, I am delighted because I managed to harness the feeling of racing. It was nice having Evgenia there watching for the first time and I also met a lady runner / Suzanne who introduced me to the Coventry Park Run a year ago. There were 453 runners in the field. I was overall 17th female and first in my age division. I did not really expect that. However, when finished I was very much in control with my breathing / cardio very strong but feeling slightly dizzy and uncomfortable in my head. Although soon recovered I had consistent headaches throughout the day and till late evening when I arrived back home to Scotland. What a day!!!!

A 26:14 was for me a good tempo run. And who knows maybe some day / next time I will race the course and beat my PB of 5 months ago / 25.02!
