First college race down and I feel surprisingly good about. Here are some of my thoughts in random order

I initially wanted to be mad about my race (told myself I'd give myself an hour and then let it go) because It wasn't fast that is obvious, but as I thought logically about it it was a rust buster and I have lots of rust to bust.I haven't raced in a year and I haven't really raced much since I was a sophomore in high school. I definitely gave it a really good effort and I am definitely proud of that. It was not easy and I felt really tired and sluggish the whole time because of how sick I have been. My 2nd and 3rd miles where I really struggled with my pace and being alone left mostly alone did not help. I really threw everything at it with about two miles to go but I may have been able to move with 5k to go if I was more experienced and knew I had it. With a less conservative mile two and three I'll probably still move with two to go. My time for my first mile was pretty decent and realistic 6:11. I think I was a little panicked/freaked out/uncomfortable and realized it just before the mile so I settled in and got into a rhythm. Which was a good thing for my first race but at the same time I needed to settle in at a little faster/more uncomfortable. My calfs SHOCKINGLY held up and weren't too bad... they weren't great and I felt them slowing down my turnover at some points for sure but afterwards the left is clearly in pain for me. I think I can be ballpark 31:00 if I ran a really really good race for me.
