Notes

plan was 25 up, 4 x (4' on / 2' steady), 2' RJ, 4 x ski hill reps (only did 3, and 2 were smaller), easy til 85'

Drove out to swiss valley to get some old school hill work in. Started from swiss valley and did the warmup/tempo on a mostly dirt mostly forested road which was great but super hilly, then did one rep up the longest run at SV + 2 more up the shorter/easier hill. Cooled down doing dirt loops of the flat parking lot.

Did not anticipate how hard this would be. The warmup was hard, the workout I just did my best to get through it, and the first rep of the hill it took everything I had not to walk. After the one really hard hill switched to the smaller hill and that was a bit better, though still not power up it just doing what I could to stay running. Run had 1300ft of elevation gain in 12mi, a loop of swallow is about 400ft for the 8mi loop, so this was realllly hilly by my standards. Probably a lot of aerobic benefit overall, and the dirt road is one of the best I've ever run on since it's shaded and good surface, but I'll think twice before trying this again.
