Oakland was so beautiful today. Sunny, trees and flowers blooming. Lots of folks out and cheering us on. This was a hard run, because I started off fast. I don't know why I started this way. I saw Lauri ahead and tried to keep her in my sight. I thouht I lost her around mile 5 however checking the results she only came in about 1 minute ahead of her. If I had started slower would I have made <2 hours? I'm just amazed at my time given the lack of regular training. I'm also thrilled that I just kept an even pace even though I was tired. Mile 11 and 12 were incredibly hard. The lake has never seemed longer. And who the heck put that hill around 12.5 miles!
This is a great day for Oakland.
