There were a lot of runners in this race. They ran two heats. Everyone in the first heat ran under 5:00. The winner set the meet record at 4:12.67. It was hot and I felt it. I was surprised my second two laps were faster than the first two. I was passed on the front stretch of the first lap and decided to hang with her. I was right on her shoulder down the back stretch of lap two. I felt I was half-stepping her, so I passed her on the turn. Looking back, I should have done this sooner. It was my slowest lap. She passed me so quickly, I thought she'd have a better race. I could feel "Anthony" (as I hear people yell his name) a few yards behind me and fought to keep in front of him. He never passed me. I almost felt sick in lap three but hung in there. I am please with a 2:46 second half.
