The forecast was "a near tropical air mass will combine w upper level low to produce copius amounts of rainfall, Tstorms, & flooding." It did not rain at all the night/morning before the race. It was extremely humid (95%). I felt great the first two miles. I even had to slow my pace. Breathing and legs felt great. Miles 3 and 4 I reduced my goal to 8:30 knowing I created some slack the first two miles. I wanted to make sure I had some left for the end. But i didn't. Then in the last mile there was a steep hill and I was done. Then I saw that I still had a chance to break fifty so I ran as hard as I could the last quarter mile. I felt horrible after crossing the finish line. It took me a good 20 minutes to recover; walking around. Then I felt fine.
