Notes

Pacing for Marla and Susan, had a hard night, we were all dead on our feet, falling asleep on our feet, seeing hallucinations (freeway guardrail, dead body, cowboy). Had to talk Susan out of quitting several times. Saw several snakes, heard lots of coyotes and wolves, saw a very, very BIG spider crawling on a sleeping runner who had dropped. Saw lightning off in the distance all night and all morning, but none on us (there was some rain in the first half but I wasn't there at that time). Saw more stars than I ever knew existed. Saw cows.

They went out too fast and had very little left for the last half so it was a death march. Spent too long in the aid stations. Susan has a complex method for protecting her feet that required frequent stops to apply ointment to tape. Gave me the chance to see the course again and plan my attach for next year's 100.

Good news - both finished within the cutoff and qualified to apply for the Western States lottery.
